Turning up the volume on their 10th anniversary celebration last year, Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet! will present an 11th edition promising to “Rock the Fork” this September. Getting in the groove with seven chart topping ancillary events in addition to the Main Event and Grand Cru (September 29 – 30), Chicago Gourmet will be presenting a lineup pairing amazing epicurean creations and top flight music and musicians to add to the sensory experience this year.
Attendees of the festival’s ancillary events will mingle with headlining chefs as they jam out to one-of-a-kind dinners, tastings and cocktail parties throughout the Windy City. The lineup includes chefs who have championed the festival since year one; new, emerging talent to watch; and both homegrown and national celebrity chefs who have become synonymous with the Chicago Gourmet experience.
Highlights include Italian Fest, an impressive feast of Italian favorites presented on the stunning Chicago Symphony Center stage. The event presents world class chefs and musicians creating a delicious pairing of music and taste in a forum made for artistry. Courses will be created by Tony Mantuano and Joe Flamm (Spiaggia), Fabio Viviani (Siena Tavern), Joe Sasto (Cal Mare), and more. Blues, Booze & Bites will bring the soul of the culinary world to the foodie stage at River Roast with chefs like John Hogan and Bruce Kalman (UNION, Knead and Co. Pasta Bar+ Market) singing the blues complete with guitars, harmonicas and drums. Guests will enjoy bites, booze and the blues in one power packed event. And, of course, there is the popular Hamburger Hop competition on the Harris Theater Rooftop. The annual burger bash, presented by Buckhead Meat Chicago and Blue Moon Brewing Co., will be back, this time with a boombox twist. In celebration of #FlashbackFriday, throwback jams will spin as chefs compete to be crowned Peoples’ and Judges’ champion.
That is just a taste of what foodies will have in store in this year’s Chicago Gourmet celebration of food, wine and (this year) music.
