Long considered one of the best alt-country/Americana bands of its generation, The Jayhawks will make their way to Chicago’s House of Blues Saturday, October 11 as part of their latest tour in support of 5 unique deluxe cd reissues this summer.
The band recently released their first five major label recordings on vinyl through American/UMe on September 30th. For the first time, Hollywood Town Hall (1992), Tomorrow The Green Grass (1995), Sound of Lies (1997), Smile (2000) and Rainy Day Music (2003) are all available at the same time.
The Jayhawks first emerged from the Minneapolis music scene in the mid-'80s with a powerful combination of strong roots/country-rock influence and power-pop melodies. Throughout the band’s history, they have been regarded as a major influence on the scene and will be hitting the road with a soaring combination of folksy harmonies and power-pop melodies, in support of the reissues project this October. The band’s lineup will stem from the their 1997 shows – Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O'Reagan, Karen Grotberg and Kraig Johnson.
The show begins at 9 p.m. and is presented by WXRT. For more information or for tickets, visit houseofblues.com or call 312.923.2000.
