Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC), is set to host its 10th annual “Dancing With The Giordano Stars” ballroom dance competition this fall. The gala event will benefit GDC and its educational outreach programs and will take place at Park West (322 W. Armitage Ave.) in Chicago’s Lincoln Park from 7-11 p.m. on Thursday, October 1.
Windy City Live’s Ji Suk Yi will emcee the popular annual event patterned after the popular ABC series Dancing With The Stars, which teams GDC professional dancers and their partners from the who’s who of Chicago’s civic, social and business communities to vie for “Best Male Dancer” and “Best Female Dancer” honors before a panel of celebrity judges.
Now entering its 53rd year, GDC is one of the longest running professional dance companies in Chicago and one of very few dance companies in the U.S. to have achieved such a milestone.
The company is currently under the leadership of artistic director Nan Giordano and executive director Michael McStraw, and has been one of the premier artistic forces in Chicago's thriving culture and arts communities. The company's new works tend to expand the boundaries of jazz and contemporary dance. GDC also has an active outreach and education program in three Chicago Public Schools.
