Actress Jane Lynch to Announce the 2014 Jeff Awards Equity Nominations
August 12, 2014 - Chicago, IL. The Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee will announce the nominations for the 2013-2014 Equity season this morning in Chicago. Actress and Chicago native Jane Lynch will preside over the announcement, which will be available for viewing later in the day at www.jeffawards.org, along with a complete list of nominees.
Jane Lynch, internationally renowned TV and movie star, started her acting career in Chicago at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Second City. She has performed in many Chicago theater productions, including a long running role at Annoyance Theatre. Lynch has gone on to win an Emmy Award (she is currently nominated for two), has hosted the Emmy Awards, performed on Broadway, and is a playwright and author. The 46th annual Jeff Awards ceremony honoring excellence in Chicago theater will be held on Monday, October 13th, at Drury Lane Oakbrook, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace.
The Jeff Awards has been honoring outstanding theater artists annually since it was established in 1968. With up to 55 members works to foster the artistic growth of area theaters and theater artists and promotes educational opportunities, audience appreciation, and civic pride in the achievements of the theatre community. Each year The Jeff Awards’ 55 members, representing a wide variety of backgrounds in theater, evaluate over 250 theatrical productions and holds two awards ceremonies annually. Originally chartered to recognize only Equity productions, the Jeff Awards established the Non-Equity Wing in 1973 to celebrate outstanding achievement in non-union theater.
