Lookingglass Theatre’s Junior Board has announced the 14th Annual Madhatter’s Ball, “The Madhatter’s Maritime Ball,” held Saturday, August 29 at Water Tower Water Works (821 N. Michigan Avenue). Proceeds from the event will support the operation and expansion of Lookingglass' acclaimed education and community programs, which encourage self-esteem and creativity in thousands of students every year.
The Madhatter’s Ball is really a high-profile fundraiser unlike any other. For the first time ever, the historic Water Works on Michigan Avenue will be transformed with a high-seas takeover worthy of the best sea-faring adventures. The evening includes one-of-a-kind performances, musical acts, DJs, dancing, costumes, specialty themed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
The Madhatter’s Maritime Ball is hosted by Kasey Foster and will honor Lookingglass ensemble members David Kersnar, founder of the Lookingglass Education Department, and Thomas J. Cox, master teacher for the department. The Madhatter’s Ball Event will be chaired by Jason Griffith.
Attire for the event is said to be “nautical cocktail” and attendees will have the chance to enter a costume contest for prizes. Costumes are optional, but hats are recommended. A VIP reception begins at 7 p.m. and the ball will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight, with an after-party at the IO Rooftop Lounge at The Godfrey Hotel (127 W Huron St).
All attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Tickets can be purchased at the Lookingglass box office or by visiting lookingglasstheatre.org/madhatters or calling 312-337-0665.
