Lyric Opera of Chicago is slated to showcase acclaimed actress, singer, and comedian Jane Lynch in See Jane Sing, a hilarious cabaret show, on Thursday, December, 17 and Friday, December 18.
Lynch is known to audiences around the world for her Emmy and Golden Globe winning role as Sue Sylvester on Glee and she recently made her Broadway debut in the revival of Annie.
“I can't wait to come home and bring our cabaret show to Chicago for the holidays.” says Lynch.
In See Jane Sing, Lynch will take audiences on a musical journey through a world of songs from Broadway to cabaret. Lynch puts her own distinctive spin on “If Wishes Were Rainbows,” “Mr. Monotony,” “Far From the Home I Love,” and “Skeletons/Blood” from A Mighty Wind. In an evening that departs in a big way from your typical Broadway narrative, Lynch, accompanied by a five-piece band, builds the performance around her musical chops and comedic wit and charm. Joining her on stage for parts of the show will be special guest Kate Flannery (Meredith on The Office), who plays Lynch’s mischievous vocal partner, and Tim Davis, the talented former musical arranger on Glee.
Lynch made her Lyric debut as master of ceremonies of the company’s 60th Anniversary Concert in November 2014, introducing operatic stars and performing in a few comedic skits with friends from The Second City and Lyric’s creative consultant Renée Fleming.
A native of Evergreen Park and Dolton, Illinois, Lynch first cut her theatrical teeth at The Second City, Steppenwolf Theatre, and even in many church basements all over the greater Chicagoland area. In addition to hosting Hollywood Game Night on NBC, Jane’s recent film credits include A.C.O.D, The Three Stooges, Wreck-It Ralph, Julie & Julia, and Shrek Forever After, among a host of other films. Lynch’s latest TV project, Angel From Hell, will air this fall on CBS.
