City Winery Chicago has announced two nights with acclaimed singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright on leg two of his "Best of Rufus Wainwright" tour. Wainwright will be in residence at Chicago’s only fully functional winery and concert venue on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 5 and 6 this spring.
Grammy nominee Wainwright, is counted one of the brightest male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. The artists current tour, Best of Rufus Wainwright, is in support of his 2014 release Vibrate: The Best of Rufus Wainwright. Affectionately dubbed “the greatest songwriter on the planet” by Elton John, the son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and the brother of Martha Wainwright has obtained notable success by curating his own signature sound within the worlds of rock, opera, theater, dance and film. He has made high caliber appearance with some of the world’s best orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The artist’s May 2015 Chicago performances promise to be among the brightest on the city’s burgeoning folk music calendar.
