Victory Gardens Theater has announced the line-up for its annual premier fundraising event, The Chicago Stories Gala. The event will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, celebrating Victory Gardens Theater’s 43rd Season, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago, 160 E Pearson Street.
The 2017 Chicago Stories Gala will honor Northwestern University basketball coach Chris Collins (whose 2016-17 season saw the Wildcats’ best performance since before World War II); visionary leader Anne Pramaggiore, President and CEO of ComEd – the first female executive to hold this post at the electricity company; and stars of the hit NBC show, Chicago Fire, Eamonn Walker and David Eigenberg. Chicago actor Alex Weisman, the star of VGT’s Hand to God.
The evening will feature a performance by Max Weinberg and The Max Weinberg Band. Max is the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and former bandleader and sidekick for Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Chicago Stories Gala chairs include Sylvia Margolies, Beverly Price, and Sue E. Wallace.
Proceeds from the Chicago Stories Gala support Victory Gardens Theater’s mission of producing new works and dedication to creating a theatrical community founded upon diversity, equity and inclusion. Since 1991, the unique highlight of the evening has been a set of short plays written by Chicago celebrities specifically for the event and directed and performed by local professionals as part of the evening’s festivities.
The gala also includes a live and silent auction, cocktails and a three-course gourmet dinner. Individual tickets to the Chicago Stories Gala begin at $500 each with table sponsorships at $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000. The 2017 Chicago Stories honorees join the ranks of past celebrity playwrights, including BD Wong, Denis O’Hare, Cheryl Lynn Bruce and John Mahoney, among others.
